#514: thanks for your list, craig.

snapped a pic before loading them up. and yes. rock candy is back in the picture.

we are considering linen overlays to cover the base of the centerpieces. i bought 1 yard to practice with. in other words, we may or may not end up doing this.

we weren't even going for this. but do you see what i see.

p.s. a fake tulip bouquet.

$7.99 at michaels. for the little flower girls? so they can trash it as much as they want? fiance was all about it but i'm not so sure. what do you think.

You lucked out majorly with those centerpieces! They couldn't be more perfect for your invitations. Nice find!

1) I think craigslist is fabulous. Everything about it rocks my world.

2) i'm not sure how i feel about the tulips. i mean, clearly it does have the advantage of being durable... i dunno. sometimes faux flowers can be really really nice. it's hard to tell from the picture. haha, i'm sure in like, 10 years all these decisions will have been forgotten!

3) holy cow, those centerpieces are amazing.

I think the tulips look great!
I would rather do fake flowers for the little girls and they get thrown around, rather than spend a lot of money on real flowers that get sat on within 10 minutes of the ceremony!

did you get FREE TREES!? I want free trees....

I think the flowers are fine, you'll feel better knowing the girls can do whatever with them, they can keep them to play dressup with, and it'll be one less thing to worry about day-of.

i hate to be negative, but i would say a big resounding no on the fake flowers. call me superstitious, but do you want something fake in your wedding? you can buy real tulips for the same price. another trick is to trim carnation petals instead of rose petals and have them sprinkle those, and then you just need a basket - they wouldn't even need a bouquet.

OMG so beautiful! I can see it in my head. Perfect match for the invite too.

I say for tulips, do the real thing. Maybe get some from Lowes or a garden store & water them for a week, cut the roots & make your own the day of. You can get for $6 usually.

Love your blog!

Congrats on the centerpieces-- so exciting! I can't wait to see how they turn out!

Tulips aren't my favorite for bouquets-- I think more "open" flowers like roses look much better when trying to put into a rounded bouquet like this one.

I looove those trees!!

for the flowers - I think fake are fine, but those seem to look cheap in the picture. i think a small bouquet of carnations would be better. Or maybe just some higher quality fakes.

I hate to be a negative nelly but I am not loving those tulips. I agree that a few fresh tulips are probably about the same price as the fake and a lot prettier. Most likely they won't have to be durable because the girls won't want to hold them long. I would just wrap them tight, just to be on the safe side.

As a woman who once got to wear a wrist corsage as a little girl and LOVED it (kept it in the fridge for days afterward) I'd skip anything the girls need to carry (aside from perhaps a basket of flower petals to drop on the isle) and give them a thrill with a wearable flower. Keep in mind that little girls have smaller hands/bodies and thus need something smaller - whether you go with bouquet or corsage. Good luck!

Howdy! Just checking in on your blog and saw this fake flowers post. I recently had a similar discussion (ahem, argument) with my fiance, and we ended up compromising with fake flowers just for the flower girls - in the form of a pomander ball. The kids could throw them around all night, and take them home afterward and play with them as long as they hold up!! I went to Michaels (and found already bundled bridesmaid rose/peony bouquets wrapped in raffia for $7.99), cut their stems off to 1" and glue-gunned them into 3" foam balls with other floral stems. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. And looks real! Here's a How-to, in case you're interested: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/toprostre.html. Good luck!

this may be ridiculous but I think fake grass would be cool on the bases.

and I think I agree with the fake flower comments thus far. I'm not crazy about fake flowers anyway but you can make your own bouquet for really cheap and if you are worried about them lasting I think carnations hold up pretty well to stress. I actually made a tulip bouquet a few days ago (you can check it out on either of my blogs if you'd like) and it's really easy. That's coming from someone with very little patience.

And I recently saw rubber flowers on a blog that looked really great: http://photographybyshea.blogspot.com/2008/10/bridal-portraits.html (scroll down to the bottom shot)

Hope you figure it out, and when it comes down to it, do what you want!

OMG, we're using branches too and I (big huge heart) the ones you've found! How fab!

Re: the tulips, I say go fake for the flowergirls, unless you watch them like a hawk they will trash real flowers. No one but their moms will be able to tell (or care). Can't tell from your photos how good looking those are in real life.

I love everything on TTO but not a fan of the tulips. Maybe fake would do okay in a pomander (SP?) or something but not as bouquet.
That said, I cannot wait to see how these trees come in!

This is great. The list is fantastic. I did these before when I got married to my loving husband now, this totally needs a lot of time of preparation. I researched for every wedding site and glad I found it with nice products and everything I need was there.Actually, they're having a clearance sale for stuffs you want. For those wanna check this link: http://www.americanbridal.com/cldiit.html for more!

1. you make me pee my pants

2. please no fake flowers

No fake flowers, they are tacky. Haven't you ever see the show, "my fair wedding" , where they come in and "class up" a wedding that's already planned. You seem like a classy girl, no fakes.

I usually hate fake flowers, but I've found some really nice ones at Michaels and Hobby Lobby. For my flower girls' bouquets, I bunched two hydrangea stems together and added a couple of roses. The hydrangeas are really full, so it doesn't take much to make a nice bouquet.

Congrats on the trees! I totally wanted to do something like that too...

I'm not digging the tulips, but only because you can get much nicer faux flowers at various web sites. I made my own bouquets with faux flowers that ended up looking really nice in pictures. They didn't cost much, either.
