my diet is shameless. or more like...shameful. i consume more fried foods per year than probably all of you combined. exaggerating i am not. and i don't do it for the convenience or the cost. or even the nookie. i'm just truly madly deeply addicted to grease and lard.
one of the things i try to eat more of these days to counteract my addiction is...cereal. granted, i prefer the sugary kinds...but cereal (even the sugary ones) is quite good for you. especially compared to country fried steak and eggs (which is what i had for breakfast today)...and especially these days, with a lot of brands focused on fiber (definitely could use more of that if you know what i mean) and protein.
so. when i saw this little project, i could almost hear my heart asking me to be kinder to it. have i found my motivation to say no to bad foods? eh, probably not. but i do think this project could potentially strongly motivate me to eat more cereal. and i think we can all agree that a real breakfast can only do a body good.
now. if only i could come up with something brilliant to put inside the box...

I eat crap too. McDonalds is my major weakness. My husband and I gave up McDonalds (and any other hamburger type fast food place) for 1 month and I was haunted with thoughts of mcchicken sandwiches for 30 days.
MMMMM... I think cereal is my favorite food ever!
i was just thinking how my diet has gone from bad to worse. honestly, if it's deep fried there's a good chance i'll eat it. the odds get better if said food is stuffed with cheese or on a stick.
of course, then there's hot dog on a stick's cheese on a stick. i swear, it's heaven in your hand!
but i also love me some cereal too. so much so that sometimes i crave it so i like to think that balances my poor eating choices. i hope no one tries to ruin my reality with facts. lol
My main blog is about my life & struggle while on Weight Watchers. I know that when I finally have a wedding date on the horizon, I am going to be the most disiplined bride-to-be known to man! Dangit, I AM going to fit in that hot dress!
(BTW, that was my comment above, I was logged into the wrong account!)
i read in the slow down diet to eat that fast food product, however, savor it over thrity minutes (he may have said twenty to start) and do this every time one eats it. this is not about chewing more times. it is about do i really like this food when i actually taste it-the basic four tastes, the mouthfeel, the texture, and so on. or is it just easy to wolf down cause it is strong tasting and not complex and unoffensive and comfortable. (i don't remember if he says this part.)
i figure, with food as well as the rest of life, i am not going to give up/let go of something until i am ready to. and i really work to catch myself not trying to be ahead of where i am. (not to say the original post was about this.)
omg! that is super cute! i wonder how many boxes of cereal I can eat in the next 8 months...
Cereal is NOT good for you-- it's a processed food and made up of isolated corn components. The sugary kind is especially bad. I don't want anyone to have the wrong impression that it's a health food!
Hi there!
Check out this new blog these three 20-something girls are doing - one of them is getting married and the other 2 are bridesmaids. They all blog about their experiences and about the upcoming wedding. It’s pretty funny. Anyway, here’s an link: http://thatswhatshewed.wordpress.com. Thanks so much!

Oh, I saw this over at CRAFT magazine (or something)! How neat would if be if you asked your friends & coworkers to save their cereal boxes & then you could use them as favour boxes? Making them over a period of months before the wedding, of course. Cheap & green, yay!
I agree with Gretta. It's a truth that eating slower will help you in a couple of ways. 1, you'll actually savor the food & enjoy the taste & textures. Also, 2, it takes about 20 minutes for the stomach to be full & to send the messages to the brain to make you want to stop eating. So if you take your time & pause between bites, you'll probably end up eating less, even if it's bad food! It's about listening to your appetite, not just the desire for the food.
I love me some McDonalds (#3 large size with a coke extra ice) and I have hard time staying away.
I too think that cereal is a diet item. I don't know what is but in my head 3 bowls of cheerios or Fruit Loops just doesn't seem as bad as fast food to me!
I'm eating Special K until my wedding...30 days to go
