I make the bulk of my money as a high-school art teacher. But I would consider myself an artist first and foremost because that's where my heart is.

2. My job is simple and has great benefits, decent money, but my heart is NO WHERE near in it. I love to craft and i want a family.

it's always awkward leaving first comments (but also I am just an awkward person), but yeah, I started reading your blog about a week or two ago, and it makes me feel better that there was someone else out there who looked at wedding blogs and things before they were engaged.

my job is still being in high school. is there any one that loves high school? I mean, really? I don't think so.

I am a photographer and album designer (for other pro-photogs). I love my job. While the freedom of being self-employed is great, you really need to have drive and self-motivation in order to keep on going day after day even when things are slow.

I am a retail manager at a boring store. To say I hate it would be an understatement. I have a degree in environmental studies but haven't found anything in my field yet. :(

I am a graphic designer for a company that specializes in magazines and other publications.

I love what I do, but wish I could do something on my own. Like design invitations or stationery, be a photographer or lay out wedding albums, or even own my own company. I'd like to make my own hours and schedule. 9-5 M-F is not for me.

I am corporate management consultant specializing in finance. The money is nice, not enough to be totally spoiled, but enough to be comfortable. The travel is cool too but can get tedious. The work can be infuriating, intellectually challenging, exhausting, satisfying, and mind numbingly boring. Would I do it if I won the lottery? No. But then I would probably play computer games and work out all day.

I am an interior designer in Atlanta.
I love what I do. I work for a small firm so I get to be hands on in every aspect of the design process. The architectural plans to the materials and finishes. I'm pretty new in my field and am lucky to have found such a sweet gig.

During the day I manage PR, Marketing and Web stuff for a college. I like it, there is always constant change. At night and on the weekends my FI and I work on our web design and videography business. Most of the business is wedding videography. Since it's part time for us and the biz only started a few years ago it takes all of our free time and most of the money the biz takes in goes right back into the business. It's exhausting but it's another creative outlet for me and my FI and I have learned to work with each other on a business level.

1) I'm a (recently laid-off) web producer.

2) I did love it. A big part of that was having a boss who's a mentor, and getting to get my hands into some pretty creative projects. I think that where you work and who you work for makes a big difference.

I was thinking not half an hour ago how much I love my job and how lucky I feel. The days when everything comes together and you are buzzing are priceless. I'm a newly self employed designer and illustrator... I love what I do, I'm broke but it rocks! Keep interested in your own career... keep the passion and it will all come good:)

1) classical musician (mostly contemporary music and chamber music; some soloing, some teaching, and some orchestra)

2) I love that my schedule is really flexible and that I get to travel a lot... I've been able to go to some amazing places I definitely couldn't have seen otherwise. But traveling is so exhausting, and sometimes I wish my life were a little more predictable, especially financially. It's amazing being able to get paid for something that I trained to do my whole life, though.

1. 5th grade teacher

2. I do love it (but I'll be at a new school this year...hopefully it's as good as I'm expecting). But, there are other things I'd eventually like to try my hand at someday too like travel writing or interior design, not to mention hopefully having a family way down the line, so I'm not sure I'll be a 'lifer'.

1. I work at a music marketing company. we book marketing programs for independent record stores. ...but I'm the bookkeeper/office manager.
2. I don't "love" it. It has it's perks (lots of free promo CDs, always knowing what the cool new band is before anyone else, getting into concerts for free, some travel and rubbing elbows with the record label types), but the monotonous invoicing, posting payments and such kills me. I need more of a creative outlet in my job... Planning a wedding and starting a blog has helped some in that area I guess!

I'm an actor by trade. I do love that. so. much.

But the lifestyle is unstable, so I'm currently a Personal Assistant/Executive Assistant 24 hours a week, which I hate, but mostly because I'm under-appreciated and its not enough income.

I've been interviewing for a full-time exec. assistant job for a while, and I'll be willing to bet that I won't love that either.

2. I love it! My job gives me flexibility and is always changing. Sometimes it is crazy and hectic, other times it is very laid back. Politics gives you the freedom of changing jobs every 6-8 months if you like, and you can move about the country and always find work. Also, the people I meet and work with on a daily basis are amazing - and we all get to work for a cause we care about!

2) I love her, but I don't love staying home. She just started big girl school, so I'll probably get some sort of job to keep me busy. It's a hard balance to strike. I don't want to have a job that prevents me from being there for her and being involved at her school, but I'M BORED. I'd love to do some sort of event planning, catering, design work...we'll see.

Ok, so I have 2 jobs. First and foremost, I am a wedding photographer, and second, I have a day job as a graphic designer for a medical manufacturing company. Taking photographs of people in love is where my heart is. Photography is my passion and it is what I want to spend every single day doing.

I'm a medical student, going to graduate in May and plan to be an Ob/Gyn. I hate almost everything about the process of becoming a doctor, and a lot of things about being a doctor, mostly related to the healthcare infrastructure we have. However, I love doing it on a minute-to-minute and patient-by-patient basis. And even though staying awake for 30 hours straight SUCKS, getting to sleep for 18 hours straight afterward is kind of nice (that's what I did this weekend and why I haven't commented sooner).

a. I am a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in a non-profit clinic.
b. My job is rewarding, and the pay is good, but the student loan payoff is going to take 30 years. This girl [http://saipua.blogspot.com] is my inspiration for what I want to be when I "grow up."

I work in banking too! Equity research, to be precise. I don't love it, but I like it, and I find it really intellectually stimulating. More to the point, it's a step on the path towards another goal.

I'm going to break the mold here. I used to have a creative job - theatre (acting, directing, managment) and it made me CRAZY. I now think you don't have to love what you do (thats BS) but liking it really helps.

1) I earn my paycheck by answering phones, pushing paper and being polite to people at a local college.

2) I don't love it. But, this is what you get from dropping out of university...twice. My last day is Friday and I'm needing to find another equally unchallenging, ok paying job to feed my travelling, yarn and paper addictions. I am really fed up with how boring my work life is and I need a challenge. I don't mind working hard, if I feel like I am appreciated and getting something back from it. So, I have decided to take an online event planning course and become a professional wedding/ party planner. It is what I love to do and I don't really care if it only pays as much as I make now because I'll be having infinatly more fun helping people create magic. At least, this is my plan until I have a family and stay at home with my little ones for a few years.

It is scary to just quit your job and do something else, but you never know what else might be out there for you. Sanity is worth more than anything else.

2. I was on the account and administrative side for 5+ years before I returned to my design roots. I love the initial design process, but the umpteen rounds of changes can be frustrating. Overall, I enjoy my job, but I'm not madly in love with it. I'd like to return to school and become a photographer (my mom is, and loves it.)

I'm a proofreader at a publishing company in Boston. We publish books for children through young adult readers. I like it for the most part. I have learned a lot, and read some great books. I started earlier this year and took a pay cut and got a longer commute. I could wax poetic about the pros and cons but what is important is that I have benefits, a salary, a steady schedule, and something to exercise my mind. I really want to be happy & fulfilled there....

I am also a wedding planner. I do love it, even though it is hard being a 40-hours-at-a-regular-job-and-married-with-children business owner. But I like to say that I do this not for a living, but for a life. It feeds my soul more than my bills -- I am still working on that part!
