#416: the venue.

lawry's is a tried and true restaurant establishment in beverly hills (and elsewhere around the country). and yes, i think they're the same company as the seasoning.

it's been a while since i've had their prime rib...but i used to go often and know that the food and service is an unbeatable value. in fact, i'm a vip member.

say what, you say?

go ahead and laugh. i'm laughing my way all the way to lawry's with a stash of $25 gift certs to consume buckets of their creamed corn and mashed potatoes with gravy (or i will be once i get points on my vip card for the money i spend on my wedding there!).

i think the ceremony room is a bit sherlock-holmesy...but i'm looking forward to changing it around with some hocus pocus. hopefully, the magic turns out to be the good kind.

also, let me tell you a little something about this place.

  • free parking for guests
  • no cake cutting fee
  • no per person alcohol minimum
  • $20 kids meal
i know.

GIRRRRL!

Lawry's salad dressing is my favorite in all the land. Its so delish, it keeps this vegetarian going back time and time again. And don't even get me started on the magic of their seasoned salt. That should be your favors - wee packs of seasoned salt!

Its been a family staple forever and I'm so thrilled for you! I love the homey dark wood feel. Its cozy and fantastic.

Congrats!

Wowza, so many Erica's!

Looks like a great venue to be sure. Holla from another May 09 bride! 6 months to go!

GORGEOUS!! FYI - if you're interested in battery powered tea lights for that aisle or mantle (frosted tea light holders are cheap-o!) they are at costco right now for $14 for a pack of 16. They come with two batteries each that last 80 hours and they flicker just like real candles. We used them to line our driveway for Halloween and it was beautiful and safe for the kiddos. If you're interested, you should check it out before Halloween is too far past and they are out of stock.

ZOMG I LOOOOVE Lawry's!!! So much! I have considered this for my reception, too. We'll see! I'm assuming it wasn't horrendously expensive either?!

you just gave me a GREAT idea for my own wedding.... i read about someone else having their wedding at Lawry's but never seriously considered it until I realized from your blog how affordable it really is. THANK YOU! (I feel so relieved that my venue search may just be coming to an end very soon!)

you officially win the best wedding food ever contest. lawry's creamed corn is pretty much my favorite food in the entire world. YAY for you choosing your venue!

I'm so amazed you're doing this for 10K. You've inspired me to cut a lot of costs in our budget but it is impossible to get married for 10K in Sonoma County! The caterers are terrible to work with. They're snobby and really feel that it is our privilege to work with them. It irks me so much that they throw soy sauce on a piece of dried chicken call it Asian style and want to charge me $35 per plate.
