#617: too kitschschty.

you know what i mean.

so this was the original concept of our placecards. you know. because we're having our wedding at a restaurant known for their..*ahem*..prime rib.

but as i kept going with it, i came to my senses. so. no more cow cut-outs. (i hear sighs of relief everywhere i think.)

and now we have a new concept. concept 2.0. i'll post about it on monday since i don't have a prototype yet. heh.

p.s. i really like cereal box stock. re-using is cool.

Had a wedding in Palo Alto last month, for 100 guests, and our total expenditures (not counting rings and honeymoon...but EVERYTHING else) for just under $10,000. We bought out a restaurant for the reception. (This is always the least expensive route) Escort cards were custom-made coasters, hole-punched and hung from the necks of brown glass long-neck bottles of homemade beer and cream soda. The bottle also had custom labels, not the typical wedding sort, though. Even the restaurant manager asked where we got the coasters, so they could start using them regularly! Despite the picture this seems to paint, it was a very elegant wedding and reception. I'd be happy to share pictures and all our other ideas for saving money. shefigures@gmail.com

They are cute! We had our reception at a steakhouse, also known for prime rib. ;) The guests will LOVE the food. Who doesn't like prime rib, right?

I actually found these quirky meal stamps at www.paper-source.com to note what meal each person chose for the placecards. The cow one is super fun. They are small stamps, but I think the character is still there. Our meal will be plated so I'm using a chicken, cow and carrot to denote the meals. I picked up a ladybug for the kids. http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/item/Menu-Set-Rubber-Stamp/300.440/871306.html

Dude, those are adorable! I vote for them.

Aww. I like those a lot. Maybe not for place cards, but I think they'd make awesome table numbers. Brand a big ol' number on their butts. :P

i say don't totally dismiss the cows... they're way cute. but then again i haven't seen 2.0, so maybe it's way cuter.

Those are cute. And Twin Cities Bride had a great idea about the stamps. I did something similar except it wasn't for place cards it was for the invitation RSVP. They returned small cut outs of either a cow, chicken, fish or a little carrot. The images were from decorative hole punchers. So, cow cut out was layered with a red background, etc.. You could something similar, using the cereal box as the base of the place card, then solid color to layer on top. I really dig the cereal box concept. I hope you're still able to use it in some manner.

Just be sure not to incorporate this into your reception:
