#615: i'm vowing.

on this blog (because. i don't do something unless i say i'm going to do it. on this blog.)

i'm going to run at least 3 miles, every single day. for 30 days straight.

30 days. of running.

not joking.

that's all.

Love it!! My only advice is to incorporate some core workouts too so you don't injure yourself while running. (happened to me last summer)

Wow. I should too-my hail damaged thighs could use it :) I have 29 days. Thanks for the inspiration.

you can do it!

You can totally do it! If you need to work up to running 3 miles, one good way is to walk for a minute and run for a minute and build up to it. I predict you will be addicted by the end of the month! I used to HATE running but now I can't live without it.

Yeah, the FI is going the gym with me know because he doesn't want to look flabby next to me on the honeymoon.

I applaud you for your determination. Just don't hurt yourself :)

Wow! You definitely need to do a weekly running update so we can follow your progress. Good luck! You can do it!

My fiance and I are going to run a half-marathon together before the wedding this summer. Personally, I need something to train for to keep me motivated. Good luck to you! I second the comment about keeping us posted on your progress.

Bravo! I'm going to incorporate dancing, 200 squats, 200 crunches, 100 pushups (yeah right).

Or you could walk. Not kidding.

Atta girl! I will try to start exercising along with you! You can do it!

It is very important to have rest days! How about running 6 days and resting one? The body needs time to heal and recover. All athletes schedule rest time.
You don't want a stress fracture on your wedding day (which would be my case if it was 2010).

Your crazy! That would take me a million years to build up to 3 miles... but can you imagine the shape your body will be in after that... insane! I might try to start working out soon..

i so need to join you...too bad we can't be running partners.

You should start off slow so you don't get injured (unlike me who now has two bad knees and sad ankles). Runners World online is a good resource.

Great idea! However, I agree with others - you definitely need rest days. I am training for a triathlon right now, so I workout 6-7 days a week but I almost always have a day between runs...For Lent, I worked out every day which was a fun challenge - it just wasn't a run every day. :) I still have almost 3 months until the big day, but less than 2 until my triathlon, so I will be running lots between now and then, too! Rock on! :)

Good luck! :) I can't run if my life depended on it, but i've always wanted to be a "runner"! :) Keep us posted! You inspire me!

ha! i signed up for a 10k...gotta get the motivation going.

i will say...working in a break/reward somewhere along there would be a good motivating factor. on the 15th day, ye shall rest.

i don't know what you did about garlands...but jordan fenney at oh happy day mentioned a super star in the garland field

Good Luck!
(and don't worry...if you miss a day or three, your loyal blog followers won't mind.)

But you can do it!

be careful! i did the same thing 2 summers ago and ended up on crutches with a hip stress fracture. like a 90 yr old. a $1,000 mri scan and 6 immobile weeks later, i learned an important lesson: make sure you have quality running shoes and work your way up in mileage slowly. perhaps vow to exercise for 30 minutes every day? alternate running with strength-training? good luck!

i promise to be careful.

lazybride. what are you doing to me. i love it, now i gotta have it, etc.

If you're going to the gym I recommend downloading How I Met Your Mother to an iPod (or whatever). In 2 episodes, you've met your goal, and looked stupid in front of everyone else because you're laughing the whole time. Its the only thing getting me to the gym everyday!

wait!!! you must must must incorporate rest days. Even pro runners do this. It's crucial for muscle development and to prevent overuse injuries.

make sure you strech. doing 30 mins of yoga once or twice a week is enormously beneficial for runners. when I train for marathons, I also do light yoga as part of my training, otherwise I get out of bed everyday hobbling like an old lady.

good luck to you!

I'm rooting for you!! You can do it!

Maybe that's how I can get myself to do so as well..

no breaks? WOW!! Congrats on the vow.

I can't seem to get into my workout. Balancing 18 credits in school, working 5 sometimes 6 nights a week and planning a wedding... it's SO hard to find time.

Thanks for the inspiration though. GOOD LUCK!!

Word to the wise: take care of your knees! Get the proper shoes.

I think I am going to try to follow your lead on that one, I like that. Although I may have to start with walking and running.

I hope you have some good running shoes or your knees will feel it. Best of luck!
