#450: "dank."

that's what the fiance said after he buried his face in my hair the other night (before i took a shower).

but i'm not hating on him because i know my scalp does tend to get a little dank-ish after 24 hours. i can't help it. i'm oily. and my pores are big.

but i'd like to stray as far as possible away from dank on our wedding day.

do you have any recs for 'hair fresheners' i could spray on my head throughout the day that smells yummy and won't weigh down my hair or make it greasy?

I've never used it, but I've heard good things about Bumble and Bumble "Hair Powder" - you spray it into dry hair and it soaks up the oils, then you brush and style.

Lots of other companies carry similar products.

I hope that helps!

A sheet of fabric softener. It'll freshen your hair and calm any static cling.

I LOVE the Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo from Sephora--it's lemon verbena scented which I happen to really like, it smells clean and fresh to me. The regular powder kind is my fav because I can rub it in best, but they have an aerosol spray too that a bunch of my friends use (it doesn't quite get to my scalp or rub in as well and I have dark hair, so it shows a little).

I have been using Samy dry shampoo on my bangs, which tend to get a bit oily, and I've found that it works really well. You can get it at ULTA (http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2159071&productId=xlsImpprod620117&navAction=push&navCount=1&categoryId=cat110148&CAWELAID=203517382) for 5.99. It has a nice light fragrance. The only problem is if you have dark hair it tends to make the spot you sprayed look gray. Not a big deal if your hair is going to be down and you can brush or finger comb it through, but if your hair is going to be styled it might be harder to take care of. For 5.99 you can buy some and test it out before the big day.

Ooh I need major help in this department too. My hair gets oily so fast!

Dry Clean Only by Sebastian is the BEST hair refresher ever!! unfortunately you'll have to find it on the internet as it's no longer in circulation but it's definitely worth the money. you won't regret it!

My hair is the same way. Sometimes when its bad I just put a little bit of baby powder on my hands and rub a little through my hair. It soaks up the oil, but it still smells fresh. And you cant even tell its there. And I have thin hair, and it doesnt even clump. I would try it before the day and see if it works for you. Goodluck!

Thanks for this post! I've been told by so many people that I'm not supposed to wash my hair everyday BUT I'm a runner so my hair would be hella dank if I didn't! I am going to try some of the other readers' suggestions!

osis 'dust it' mattifying powder is EXCELLENT! it's a powder that you can use to either get rid of the greasies or even on clean dry hair to make it a little less silky/slippery so that you can style it better. it was $20CAN for a little tiny shaker bottle, but well worth it.

I use Johnson and Johnson's baby powder too, but the vanilla/jasmine scent. You can get a travel size bottle at target for $1 to try it out! Good luck!

Bumble and Bumble Prep is a spray that is supposed to 'freshen' your hair products and as a base layer before you blowdry/style, but it's great light-smelling hair freshener too. I use it all the time, and I have oily-ish hair too.

I love my Aveda reviving mist spray. I have really thick hair so I don't use it for 'oily' purposes but it is great for smell. I use it after a long night out when I don't have time to wash it but need to get the 'bar smell' out.

I only have a suggestion of one to stay away from. Jonathan Antin makes a "make your hair look less dirty" spray and it is awful. Do not buy. It just increases the hair grease.

1. oscar blandi dry shampoo from sephora. it smells terrific and is very refreshing

2. good old baby powder. works like a charm and it also gives your hair a ton of body. plus, its what angelina jolie uses. :-)

Furterer Dry Shampoo! I've tried all the dry shampoos including B&B, Sebastian, baby powder, etc. This one works the best for me. It actually breaks down the other products in your hair as well which helps with the cleansing. Good luck!

don't spend on fancy products. use baby powder. it soaks up the oil very well. just remember to check for residue; i often end up walking around with powder on my cheekbone. :)
