#674: our cake topper.

we didn't really have a cake topper. in fact, we didn't really have a cake. remember?

anyways, i thought that was that. done and done. but then something happened.

a couple of weeks before the wedding, we received one of our most favoritist wedding gifts, from a dear dear dear (three times, dear!) friend of mine who lives in ireland. she couldn't make it to our wedding and instead sent over something that squeezed the juice from my eyeballs.

i knew there had to be a place for it somewhere in our wedding. and it took me all of 2 seconds to figure it out.

on the day of, i had one of my bridesmaids put my friend's gift next to our cake. as a kind of cake topper. but the kind of cake topper that didn't go on top of the cake.

like this.

p.s. it's wanger. not wagner. just sayin.

p.p.s. our venue ended up providing the cake table, a cake knife, a cake server, and cake stand...with no instruction from me. cool, huh.

So cute, is it carved out of wood?

I love that! We actually got that statue for our engagement from a family member and it sits in our living room...I just think it's so lovely. I really like how you incorporated it into your celebration!

OMG!!!! We received the exact same statue as an engagement gift and we also set it next to our cake for our wedding in June '08 instead of a toper - brillance!

The best part? We recently had twin girls and another friend remembered our statue and gave us one by the same artist of two girl children standing back to back. We're now a family : )

That's so beautiful! I don't like the typical cake toppers- they're so cheesy and tacky usually. I like that you all decided not to put it on the cake, but beside it.

Am I allowed to know where this amazing venue is? Don't worry, I wont be looking into it for a wedding at least for another year or so... I have to return home to LA first from South Africa... ha.
