beverly hills greystone mansion
i found these reviews on yelp and got uber excited. here's a great little roundup by one of the reviewers.

Great things about Greystone:
+it is free! and has a ton of parking
+the gardens are quiet and serene, perfect for napping, chatting, reflecting. There are also a ton of beautiful fountains and a pond filled with carp, turtles, and abandoned gold fish.
+the history of the grounds is colorful and creepy
+people of all ages love it
+the views are killer
+you can picnic here (illegally), but I have never had a problem with park security.
The only negatives.....
-during the summer there is a camp here, which is cool for the kids who get to run around all day, but it changes the quiet atmosphere of the park.
-you cannot go into the mansion, unless you come for a special event inside.

why does this suit my fancy?
1) i adore kids and could care less about a ton of them running around making a muck of the ceremony.
2) i don't care about using the inside of the mansion.
3) i love colorful and creepy...it also means i wouldn't have to do much in the way of decorations (no more killing flowers!).
my fantasy wedding here would go something like this, assuming the sun was set to, uh, set at 730:
430 ceremony
515 cocktails
545 dinner served
800 reception complete
830 afterparty at a club, bottle full of bub
hm.

yeah, it is definitely NOT free to have your wedding at the Greystone. that yelper was probably talking about just visiting the park and picnicing.
the rental pricing is comparable with most places in the area. sadly, probably not in the $10,000 range. :(
I'm getting married at Greystone this summer! And yes, it's not free, but it's not outrageous either. The biggest drawback is that there is no power, so you have to rent a generator. So for that reason, we are not having our reception at Greystone, just the ceremony.
i need to learn how to read the fine print. or...just read.
