#331: as seen on oprah.

calypso dress on sale for $135

how much are you budgeting for your maids? i'm actually planning to pay for their dresses myself so given my 'budget', these calypso dresses are out of my league.

but.

i've noticed around the blogosphere that the $150 range seems to be the going rate for bridesmaids dresses, particularly if they're going to be asked to purchase their own dresses.

this dress is amazing. it's gorgeous, flattering, light, fun, timeless and...re-wearable. plus it comes in a smattering of cute spring-y shades. many of the sizes and colors are out of stock because of the sale (from $195 to $135) but not completely depleted.

work it!

Cute dress! Leave it to Oprah to make stuff fly off the shelves the moment she mentions it. ;-)

I'm also buying my girls their dresses since they're already paying a lot to be at my wedding. Plus I've always been sort of anti-BM dress; it's bad enough I'm asking them to wear a specific color or style, and to make them pay for it just seems sort of wrong. (Yes, I have paid for a couple of baaaad BM dresses myself, if you hadn't guessed, ha ha.) I told them that if they're out looking, try to keep it under $150 but realistically, I'm hoping to pay much less than that. Especially since we're going the cocktail dress route, rather than the traditional floor-length pouffy satin dresses.

I think it's do-able. High five!

Love love love this dress! I'm buying my girls their dresses too, since it's a destination wedding and I know they're spending a lot to be there with me already. I found theirs at the Ann Taylor Celebrations sale and got them for $60 apiece (originally $185). They're cute little cocktail dresses and maybe they'll never wear them again, but so what? They were cheap!

I just have one best woman and her dress was £40 ($80). I paid for it because I have more money than her, but she loves it and will definitely wear it again, so if things were different she might have paid for it... who knows?!

I let my gals pick out whatever off the rack dress they wanted. I don't think anyone spent overy $50.

those are cute dresses! Love the variety of colors, too. You could have each BM in a different green/blue hue! I think the $150 range is pretty reasonable for some prices I've seen. I'm a BM in one of my friend's weddings right after mine and the original dresses she was looking at were over $300!!!!!!!! I almost had a heart attack.

late to the party, however...
All 3 of my nieces, when they wed, had gave their BMs (that sounds horrible when you read it out loud) a certain coloured skirt with instructions to top it however they wished within a certain hue/shade. The idea was that not everyone's shape looked good in one style. I have to say all three weddings the BMs looked fabulous, and they gals could wear their dresses again to the office or out on the town.

Very cute dress! My bridesmaids paid for their own dresses (I kept them under $150), and to thank them, I got them pearl strands, which many of them wear constantly (thank God they liked them). I got them at www.moonriverpearls.com. They were inexpensive and shipping is free. Plus I got free pearl studs with my order, which I gave to my mom.

this dress is perfect for bridesmaids, and believe it or not it can be made to be worn strapless, and as a halter style. Trust me, I have it. :) :)

Our dresses were about $200 from J.Crew. The bridesmaids are paying for them and also paying for their own shoes. The J.Crew dresses are navy and silk and we went to great lengths to make sure they could wear the dress over and over again.

I kinf of love this dress, it's very arty and the color is beautiful. I took my girls on a day of shopping, they tried dresses on everywhere and we ended up with 5 of the same dress at Urban Outfitters! It was flowy, a gorgeous purple/rose and it fit each one just right, and it was about $68. They each bought shoes and I found a really pretty wrap and oila - done.

We all went out together and found dresses off the rack. The only requirement we had was the were in the same tones. We picked shades of green. I wanted to make sure the girls liked them and that they worked for them.

my BM's dresses were around $180 at the bridal shop that I bought my dress from but I shopped around online and found the same dresses for them at gownsales.com for $120! You can definitely find dresses cheaper than in the bridal salons
