#669: ok FINE.

hi.

first, everyone is owed a happy friday. because it's friday and therefore it is happy.

second, i'm sorry if you've been checking up on TTO only to find zero updates. i didn't think anyone cared enough to actually get upset about it...but i could see how it could be annoying.

third, so i guess i owe you an explanation.

first, work has been f*ing crazy. more so than ever. so i haven't had time to roam the blogs. i do check them once in a while but then everything i see is 'old news' by the time i want to talk about it. so.

second, i'm in the midst of finishing out my current job and looking for a new job. so i'm busy hunting, interviewing, and hoping to get hired. and the truth of the matter is, this blog doesn't feed me.

third, most of my spare time has been spent helping my parents with their house. their place got DEstroyed a few months back when a pipe broke while they were out of town. everything was gutted and had to be redone...and they are just now finally settling back in. it's been sad and it's been stressful...but we're almost done.

fourth, i want to do wedding recaps (and will do wedding recaps) but i don't have my pictures yet and i want to wait until i get them.

in conclusion, i guess this is me formally announcing that i won't be blogging for a while. until my current situation lets up a bit. i'll post every now and then if i have something mindblowing to share.

'til the next episode, loves.

TTO

it's okay. We still love you :) That really sucks about your parent's house. I can't even imagine what a stress that would be. Good luck with your job hunting.

Dear TTO,

I read the crazy post someone wrote in the comments about you only caring/being interested in this blog -- interested! in your own life, your own wedding! How do they have the gall?? -- because you were wanting wedding sponsors and freebies, and I just have to say this: people on the internets are crazy. I mean, really! To think that you OWED them something, regular updates, witty enough postings, wedding porn of your own wedding.... I mean, come on. Please do not feel upset by this moron and his/her friends & compatriot morons. You write a blog to share info, ok. And we read it because we're getting married, or just got married, and are interested......adn because you have a lovely writing voice, a persona that comes across on the page. But we are still strangers. We don't have the right to love you, hate you, presume to know allt that much about you simply because we read your writing, your occasional persona. The thought that we do have that right - and also the right to judge you - is truly ludicrous. And a common misconception, that the world of impaired privacy & willing communication engendered by blogs (which I love, don't get me wrong) equals true intimacy - the kind that entitles us to things. Please keep writing, if you wish, or don't, if you wish, and those of us who enjoy your blog will survive either way. We'll be delighted to read more if you choose to, but for heaven's sake - please don't waste any time being upset by that crazy person insulting you! take care, and also thanks for the wit & interesting pov in the world of indy wedding planning. I much appreciated it in my own plannign! :) Good luck with the job hunt & your folks.

Maybe there's some other topic you can blog about?? Because obviously, you're going to get bored with the wedding topic eventually (personally I find it hard to think weddings right now because I miss mine so much!!!) but we loooove your "voice" and "persona" (thanks Jessica!) and I'm not sure if I could have gotten through the wedding planning experience without you to say it like it is occasionally. Also, while I may not have used your specific ideas (my style was a little different and my location TOTALLY different), I still gained inspiration to do things MY way and have my own touches (for instance, my bridesmaids wore yellow j.crew dresses, but their shoes were purple, pink, yellow, teal -- whatever they wanted. it was awesome. Also, they wore their own jewelry and their hair however they wanted it. Oh and they wore shades. and one of them passed out. it was just so....US. and I have you to thank for the attitude I was able to take about everything -- it's MY wedding dammit and everyone else can bite me! hehe)

Anyway, we miss you and we understand...but we look forward to hearing more from you!!! :)

Hello, miss TTO! or, should I say, MISSUS?! :)

Just popping in after a few months and catching up - sorry to hear about all the life stuff lately and even sorrier to read about all the freeload-y, demanding readers out there. WTF, man.

No one reads my blog so it's not like I get a hundred nasty comments when I stop, but seriously, life happens after a wedding. It's a lot of change, esp unanticipated, unforeseeable ones that weren't related to marriage (job, family, etc.) and dude, new brides are TIRED. I've been tired ever since the night I cleaned up after the reception! I'm tired of looking at white dresses or hair or flowers, tired of it all! I can't image feeling the pressure to upkeep the writing of a blog, at the mercy of people who WON'T do their research themselves, for gosh sakes. Those whose weddings depend solely on your posts seriously need a shot of accountability injected into them.

And my last 2 cents (or 4, cause I went over "budget" too and didn't regret a single cent) is that this whole thing was YOUR experiment. It was a question, "Can I do it?" This wasn't a Myth Busters episode based on science with objective control groups! And I think "can" also inherently means "should" and "could I" and "do I really want to in the end" and "is it worth it"? I appreciated every back and forth internal battle you openly shared with us readers, and I secretly hoped you'd say, "Eff the blog, I'm going all-out!" for this once in a lifetime event!

So I think the definitive answer is YES one CAN. But no, you didn't and didn't want to. Because your wedding was so much more important that proving a hypothesis with an end result of a possibly ugly event you'd look back on and wish you'd spent $100 extra on whatever. Only to tell strangers that you did it. Woopee.

You know that new Julie & Julia movie coming out? I wonder if readers beat up on Julie for whatever SHE didn't do that Julia did. For crying out loud.

Anyways, long enough commentary here; we (faithful and once in while readers) love you! CONGRATULATIONS on your nuptials from the bottom of my heart, and best of luck!!

ugh. give us something! your blog keeps me sane and reminds me i can write my own rules. you're like one of those friends that gets married than never hangs out with her girlfriends anymore!

Kaitlin Wainwright said...

@ Anonymous: But those friends, the ones who "get married and never hang out with you anymore", they will come back eventually, with lots of stories to tell.

I'm not offended that TTO isn't posting twice daily (or monthly for that matter). Everyone goes through dry spells and busy periods, and not everyone has time to blog. And she really doesn't owe us anything (not that you implied otherwise).

One day, I'll come back here and I'll have to catch up, beacuse that's how life goes.
